Little Original $200 Mountain Pygmy Possums hibernating under the snow. Size 23 X 23 cm. Framed in a black box frame. Add $20 postage.
The Mountain Pygmy Possum is a small noctunal marsupial found in dense alpine rocks and trees, in the Victorian Alpine area and the Kosciuszko National Park of NSW at elevations from 1300m to 2230m. Hibernating under a thick layer of snow in winter under tree roots and boulders, the Mountain Pygmy Possums are able to survive winter.
The species was believed to be extinct. It was not until 1966 that a living individual was found at a ski resort at Mount Hotham in Victoria.
